Congratulations! You are thinking about getting married! We are very happy for you and hope the following FAQs are helpful. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you need more information or if you would like to get married at St. Saviour’s.

Who can get married at St Saviour’s?

You are entitled to get married at St. Saviour’s if you live within our parish boundaries.   Every part of the UK is divided up between Church of England churches and the area we care for is called a parish.   Our parish extends along the London Road (A13), down the west side of Valkyrie Road down to the sea front, along the sea front and up The Drive and the edge of Chalkwell Park.

What if I don’t live in the parish?

If you have a connection with the parish then you can also get married here.  For example, if you used to live in the parish, if you used to attend Sunday School or if your parents were married here.

If you have no connection but still would like to be married here then you can do so by worshipping regularly with us for six months and so be included on our membership or electoral roll.  You are welcome at any service.

What if I have been married before?

This is no longer an automatic bar on remarriage in church.  If you are divorced and seeking remarriage you will be invited to speak to the Vicar.  Clearly the Christian ideal is for one partner for life but all enquiries will be dealt with respectfully and with an open mind.

How much will it cost?

The basic cost for the legalities is as follows for 2021:

Publication of Banns of Marriage:     £31.00

Certificate of Banns issued at time of publication:     £15.00

Marriage Service in Church:     £464.00

If you want to have special flowers, the choir and organ etc then this will incur extra costs.
